If your phone needs a charger by mid-afternoon, shuts off at 20%, or feels warm and slow, the battery is usually the problem. Batteries wear out with every charge cycle. A new battery can make a two- or three-year-old phone feel close to new again, for a fraction of the price of a replacement phone.
Cell n PC replaces batteries in phones, tablets and laptops at our Wylie shop on State Highway 78. Many phone battery swaps are done in about 40 minutes.
Devices we replace batteries in
- iPhone – check Settings › Battery › Battery Health; below about 80% is a good time to replace
- Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Motorola and OnePlus
- iPad and tablets
- MacBook Air and MacBook Pro – ‘Service Recommended’ warning, short battery life, or a swollen battery lifting the trackpad
- Windows laptops – Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS and more
Warning: swollen batteries
A battery that swells can push the screen out of a phone or bulge the bottom case of a laptop. Stop charging it and bring it in – swollen lithium batteries shouldn’t be left in use.
Signs you need a new battery
- Battery percentage drops quickly or jumps around
- Phone shuts off in cold weather or under load
- Device only works while plugged in
- Phone runs slow or gets hot while charging
